"The Lorenzo Motor Lodge is a great place to stay, and it is the little things that make a difference. The room itself was impeccably clean and inviting as was the bathroom. Coming home from a long day to find lights on and heater going in the unit was so pleasant and welcoming, as was the fact that the owners greeted me by name. Then there was the complimentary wine on arrival and the fact that the owner brought myself and two colleagues to work rather than calling a taxi. I would stay there again any time."

"After a 30 hour journey from South America I was very happy with my decision to stay at the Lorenzo Motor Lodge. Mary and Mike have thought of everything and it is these little touches that make their place stand out for me. Bathroom has spa bath, en suite kitchen so well kitted Nigella Lawson would feel at home here. Ground coffee to supplement the instant cofffee, tea and hot chocolate on offer, electric blanket to supplement the duvet and blankets, good range of in room magazines., excellent cookies frequently replenished for those 2am munchies.

Ahhh the simple pleasure of good coffee with the electric blanket on (29 degrees Sao Paulo- 8 degrees Christchurch) and being able to surf stay connected in bed because the internet cable actually reaches the bed. Felt very very spoilt indeed.

And Mary and Mike are the consummate hosts...Knowledgable a genuinely lovely couple who clearly enjoy what they do and go that extra mile for their guests...printed itineraries, lift to restaurant etc'

"We travelled to New Zealand for a 17-days-motor home-trip around the South Island.
We couldn't find a motor home for the total time, so we decided to spend the first 3 days in a 2 bedroom apartment at Lorenzo Motor Lodge in Christchurch.
And I wish we've stayed longer!!

Mike and Mary are the most helpful, thoughtful and friendly hosts we have ever met (and we travelled a lot!)
Where do I start?
The apartment was spacious and spotless and daily served which was a delight for me as a busy mum of 4 boys.
A good equipped kitchen (I easily cooked nice meals for my family), large fluffy towels (Mike even brought in some extra towels without having asking for them!). Don't forget to mention the spa bath which was a delight for the boys;-)
They also have internet, a nice DVD-collection which you can use and the boys were so happy with that and so did I (give me some time to read my book).
Mary even found the time to bake some really nice cookies which my boys loved (thanks for the recipe Mary)!
Their beautiful lodge is within an easy walk to the shop and nice restaurants.
Mike and Mary always took the time to provide us with information for any question (eg. arrange a taxi) we had, helped out wherever they could and I can go on and on and on.....
After our motor home trip we spent one more night at their place and we were all sad we had to leave...."

Margaret and I have stayed in New Zealand for the last 10 years, after our third year we found Lorenzo's, it was late at night and were squeezed in with no notice, we immediately felt really welcome.
It was then decided that we should make a longer stay the next time. Now most years we spend our last two nights in "our little Christchurch apartment" this delightful 2 bedroom unit completely private with its own patio for afternoon tea. We have stayed seven times now, this year 2010, three nights and couldn't be happier.
Nothing is too much trouble; one year I wanted to buy some port pipes from Akaroa I asked Mike if I could get them delivered to Lorenzo's and pick them when I visited. "Not a problem Mary's sister lives next-door to the Andrew Firth Glass Studio and will bring them next time she visits", as a result I purchased my pipes and even saved on the postage. Thanks Mary, this makes the port taste even better.
Each year our apartment gets a face lift fresh paint, new items even flat screen TV as standards change. So many motels in New Zealand have rested on their laurels. When you re visit a place, it shows the decline rather than improvement, but not here.
Mary's cookies are a special treat at the end of a hard days touring we return home to find blinds drawn heater and lights on putting a Christchurch winter to bed for another day.
Each morning before you can get the car started Mike has taken a squeegee to your windows so you have a clear view to start your journey.
After a month driving round New Zealand our car is often a little dirty, it is not an uncommon site to find Mike taking a hosepipe and cloth to the dirt whilst we have afternoon tea, "Thanks Mike".
We would recommend Lorenzo's to everyone who wants that special welcome and those little things that can only come from a genuine urge to please, there's no cheesy welcome here that you get in some places, and you know isn't meant. Extract from Trip Advisor September 2010
